Data relating to output-test the 22 the Mars 1998

(Test of the 100 m / Statistical said - because they belong to him - " of Valérian")

A remark is essential: If one can say that our two colleagues detect quickly (too much), they them also lost many interesting targets. If the " cheeses " giving the percentages of the currencies discovered are right, here what we can add in the light of a recent test on March 22, 1998.

On 31 prospectors having taken part in the following test, the results are very variable: thus we had asked the users to traverse 100 m and to count the numbers of sweepings which they made. During this time, we measured the time and the width of sweepings.

Total average:

Some individual data on a course of 100 m

(Certain apparatuses can beings considered as inoffensive, to see the continuation...)

47 prospectors had been given go on a virgin field of any known archeological site (front and after detection) at the time of this output organized to English by our School of the Prospection.

With this occasion, the organizers had asked to adjust the apparatuses so as to eliminate a wrought iron nail (normally employed by all the detectorists).

Here what was found in 4 hours thirty of time, right before a good storm...

Total surface of the field: 20 hectares (in fallow) knowing that on average, a sweeping is made into 1,250 second... and that 2491 targets were detected in 4 hours thirty.

One thus needs 11, 57 hours to detect one hectare, that is to say 4,166 seconds per m².

47 prospectors having detected 4. 30, that makes us 211,5 hours for which it is necessary to withdraw time to dig (and others) on the 2 491 targets, let us count 30 seconds per target. We obtain 20,75 hours that one cuts off with the 211,5 preceding ones. What gives 190,75: 11,57 = 16, 48 hectares (in theory since we must withdraw 37 % of losses dependent on the way of detecting and not far from 15 % because to this number, the prospectors crossed several tens of time.

Let us divide 16,48 in almost two to keep only 10 hectares, which seems closer to reality).

A prospector alone would have put one year and half at a rate of three hours of average per week to do as much of it. He would have spent 232 hours and 15 minutes. He would have found on average 0,37 parts of the hour and 10,35 objects or rather should tell us waste considering the state! Beautiful profitability is not this '!

A) The apparatuses which found it + ferrous ore:

B) The apparatuses which found it - ferrous ore or more the non-ferrous one:

C) the apparatuses which found the most targets on the whole:

D) The apparatuses which found less targets (all confused)

47 2nd (the Last): a Viking 6 dx with 12 targets (beginning)

45 2nd (Before before the last): CS2Mx scope with 14 targets. The user begins. Without any doubt dependent on the way of detecting of the user and his knowledge of detection in the fields.

44 2nd : Garret CX2 regulated on 47 of discri and 3 years of detection and 18 found targets including 3 ferrous and a currency.

43 2nd : a Viking 5 with 20 targets including 13 ferrous and his operator begins.

42 2nd : Quick Draw with 23 targets including 3 ferrous, regulated on 2 of discri, its users is only one year old of detection.

41 2nd : Classic 3 regulated on one of discri and 23 targets including 9 ferrous. (It holds its head of detection to 10 cm of the ground) and it has begun for 15 days. It is its first rally and one can applaud it!

40 2nd : Garret CX3, its user are 18 years old of detection (you read well). It found 29 targets including 8 ferrous and all the same 3 currencies.

E) About the apparatuses which found the most currencies:

In the current state of the things, even if the 1235 in found more, (then just after a CZ5 of Tesoro, the 1265, Sovereign, a model old Musketeer, Cx3 and the GTI 2000 and one 1220) let us recall that it is the man who is behind the machine which does all. The detector is not that a tool like the painter has his brush, the mason his trowel!

Somebody who could better analyze the sounds and knows his apparatus very well, even if it has only 2 or 3 years of detection behind him finds as much if not more (and even sometimes well more) that that which has 15 or 20 years of detection. All is thus in the technique. Technique how some did not succeed in yet controlling even after five or 8 years of detection! It would thus not have been just to compare either the apparatuses, or the prospectors only on the criterion of the currencies.

To be perfectly objective, we should well announce that certain apparatuses undoubtedly would have behaved better if it had been held by accustomed detection (it is a little the case of the classic 3 for example).

One thus deduces from it that to be perfectly valid such a test must be made with users having the same level of experiment. It does not remain less true about it than we have an idea different from the market of the metal detectors... what would not like all the world, users included/understood (especially users).
